Up until now however boxing has traditionally been a male dominated sport, Ireland however has one woman to thank for breaking the mold, Katie Taylor became an overnight household name on the island with her gold medal winning performance in the 2012 London Olympics she has since inspired many young girls to seriously think about becoming a successful boxer. I spent an evening with some of  the girls training, there were 3 girls there, Eli even came on crutches having injured herself a couple of weeks previously in a fight which she went on to win despite her injury’….
